    Raspberry’s Pixel OS – Overview

PIXEL is ‘Pi Improved Xwindows Environment, Lightweight’ a complete Debian-based OS. Previously a complete command based OS, after September Update, PIXEL desktop environment is the new addition. It has a very new interface, complete function changes, supports a large number of apps, file extensions, and much more. However, Raspberry didn’t include Minecraft and Wolfram Mathematica. The reason being, the company don’t have a license to provide them on x86 computers.

In the official blog post, Eben Upton states that this OS is “clean, modern user interface; a curated suite of productivity software and programming tools, both free and proprietary; and the Chromium web browser with useful plugins, including Adobe Flash, preinstalled. And all of this is built on top of Debian, providing instant access to thousands of free applications.”

Nevertheless, The OS runs on ‘venerable i386 architecture’ which means you can run this OS on any of your old computers without any flaws! Even 512MB RAM computers can handle this with ease!

Also, being in experimental phase, the users can minor troubles. “Due to the wide variety of PC and Mac hardware out there, there are likely to be minor issues on some hardware configurations. If we decide that this is something we want to commit to, in the long run, we will do our best to address these as they come up,” said Upton, about the issues.

To install Raspberry Pi’s PIXEL,  Simply download the image, burn it to a DVD or flash it onto a USB stick, and boot straight into the familiar PIXEL desktop environment on your PC or Mac. To create a bootable USB, use Etcher.

    Caution!

Please note, if using DVD method, then after turning the system, the data will be lost, perhaps, entire data is stored like stored in a RAM. For this, create a persistence partition while installing OS.
