On-demand services provider UrbanClap raises funding

Funding Story

The rising lifestyle demands of urban Indians also necessitates the appropriate growth of service providers to cater to these demands. A startup which ensures that such demands are catered to swiftly and efficiently is UrbanClap. Founded by Abhiraj Bahl, Varun Khaitan and Raghav Chandra in 2014, the startup got a huge shot in the arm recently when it succeeded in raising $25 million in a round of funding led by Bessemer Venture Partners. The round also saw existing investors Accel Partners and SAIF Partners chip in.

About UrbanClap

UrbanClap aims to cater to the rising demands of urban Indians for a variety of services. It prides itself on its versatility-users only need to explain, on the site’s excellent online platform, which services they exactly need, and the dates for which they require these services. Its matchmaking algorithm allows customers to find service providers by answering relevant questions which the algorithm generates, based on the customer’s requirements. A huge variety of demands are catered to-customers can hire electricians who specialize in repairing different appliances, interior designers, carpet cleaners, wedding photographers, painters and dog trainers, among others. A total of 83 specialised services are covered by UrbanClap’s excellent network of service providers. Upon specifying the services which the customer needs, a range of trained professionals specializing in providing the service are introduced. The customer can look at their detailed profiles to aid him in making a choice-their quoted prices and experience are clearly stated. Currently, the startup’s services can be availed of in 5 cities-Delhi(and the NCR region), Mumbai, Pune, Chennai and Bangalore. With more funding events expected to occur over the next few months, UrbanClap will be looking to expand the network of cities where its services can be availed of, besides aggressively marketing its highly innovative platform.

Conclusion

UrbanClap currently handles over 5000 customer requests daily, and has built a network of 20,000 trained professionals. This has allows it to make a huge splash in the on-demand services market, allowing city-dwellers to have their demands met even in these hectic and strenuous times.
