Telemedicine startup Doctor Insta raises $500,000

Funding story

The scope for instant, on-demand medical services delivery has risen by leaps and bounds in the recent past. Telemedicine has, in particular, become an extremely lucrative segment. One such startup focused on Telemedicine, Doctor Insta, has received $500,000 worth of funding from angel investor Rishi Parti. Another participant in this round was BrahmaX Ventures, a US-based venture capital firm. Further funding, to the tune of $1-2 million, is also expected to occur.

About Doctor Insta’s services

Set up by Amit Munjal, Doctor Insta has made it possible to avail of the services of medical professionals without having to leave one’s home at all. The entire process is carried out on video chat, from the comfort of a smartphone, laptop or PC. The various kinds of services available are also the one most relevant in this day and age ; these include general medical aid, and miscellaneous services are offered by Pediatricians, Psychologists, Nutritionists and many others.  The entire diagonosis, advise and treatment offering procedure occurs within 15-30 minutes. Some of the common conditions which DocInsta treats are cough, sore throat, STDs, Diarrhoea and Vomiting and Sports Injuries. These conditions afflict thousands of people each day, but the hassle involved in getting appointments and travelling to far-off chambers of corporatized docs is eliminated by Doctor Insta. Each session involves the payment of a very basic fee of Rs.400, with higher costs involved for advanced treatment. Nevertheless, knowing how much in need of quality healthcare most Indians are, the enterprise tries it utmost to ensure affordability of services.

Conclusion

The app is conveniently downloadable for both Android as well as iPhone users. The payment process is extremely simple too, and the startup accepts all major credit cards, as well as net banking and mobile wallets. Rishi Parti is optimistic about the venture’s prospects, and says that the concept of using video to provide healthcare services is both novel and disruptive. We share his optimism; Doctor Insta seems to have a very bright future.
