Women’s western wear marketplace Kaaryah raises funding

Funding story

With increasing consumer demands, startups in India are increasingly focusing on diverse segments to cater to the middle class’s tastes. After several funding gains for ethnic wear startups, its time for western wear companies to shine.  Kaaryah, a startup which seeks to create a marketplace for western non casual wear for Indian women, is the latest to raise funding- the startup recently raised Pre-Series A funding from Mohandas Pai and The Saha Fund.

What is Kaaryah?

Launched in 2014 by Nidhi Agarwal, Kaaryah had previously secured funding from Ratan Tata. It seeks to combine technological innovation with a desire to meet the ever-diversifying tastes of Indian women, to create an effective eCommerce portal.
The Kaaryah site can be easily accessed, and the various items on offer there are clearly highlighted. These are categorized into several relevant segments. These include trousers, dresses, skirts and jackets. New arrivals are clearly highlighted, for the customer’s ease. Relevant sub-categories have also been created ; for instance, tops are further categorized into blouses, tunics, shirts and camisoles. All the items on offer are clearly described, with accompanying pics allowing the user to make a choice. Moreover, exciting offers and discounts are highlighted.
A series of excellent testimonials also serve to highlight Kaaryah’s excellent services—its emphasis on customer satisfaction allows it to meet every demand. Customers are always extremely pleased with the high level of personalisation which Kaaryah has accommodated-along with a focus on making sure that the right dresses, of the right size, fit the right customer. The range of products on display is truly impressive.

Recent growth and future prospects

Kaaryah has gone from strength to strength since its founding, with over 3500 orders being handled monthly. Kaaryah’s excellent cross-marketplace interface, which ensures that it sells via Jabong, Flipkart and PayTM also, have racked in a lot of positive attention for the brand. This trend is likely to continue in the future as well.
