The launch of the Start-Up India mission
The much-awaited Start-Up India mission, which seeks to provide a boost to Indian startups, finally got underway at the Vigyan Bhavan today. It was unveiled by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. The mission is a landmark and pioneering event as far as Indian startups are concerned, and the Modi government is expected to grace this event through the announcement of several pro-entrepreneurship initiatives. Jaitley began by saying that the programe represents a final break with the culture of Licence Raj.
The government is looking set to announce an entrepreneur-friendly tax regime aimed at boosting startups. Jaitley also talked positively of the MUDRA scheme, which is also aimed at helping entrepreneurs. A number of startups have also voiced their views regarding the launch of the programme, and its prospects. Among these is www.indiaonline.in, led by Rahul Jalan. Jalan is confident that Start Up India will achieve the PM’s objective of being able to increase the ease of doing business. Indiaonline is an initiative of Pan India Internet Pvt. Ltd., and is a platform which brings together 475 India centric portals under one roof, providing detailed info about Indian states, Union Territories and Metros.
According to Innefu Labs’ Co-Founder Tarun Wig, Start Up India promises to create an overall business-friendly market, spurred on by a better taxation and foreign investment policy. According to him, this will enhance their overall performance, both nationally and internationally.
Innefu is a research oriented info security group which focuses primarily on the development of niche and innovative cyber security solutions. Among the various segments which they have forayed into are fuzzy logic, pattern matching, multifactor authentication and open source intelligence, among others. Among their numerous clients are the Indian Army, Public Sector Companies and Intelligence Agencies.
The startup ecosystem in India, inspite of its progress, still has a long way to go in allaying entrepreneurs’ concerns about certification delays. Govind Bansal, co-founder of Aqua, believes however, that Start Up India is certain to be a step forward in the right direction in this regard. Aqua Mobiles, which was founded by Bansal, Arvind and Abhishek Adukia, is likely to derive maximum benefit from any streamlining efforts pertaining to certification.
