DriveU raises USD 1Mn from Unitus Seed Fund

DriveU

Now the trend has been developed for hiring a taxi instead of driving your own vehicles at affordable prices. Ola, Uber, Taxi for Sure has been working on the same philosophy since the beginning. But DriveU is working on the entirely different path on using the customer’s car with a properly verified driver at an exclusive price. It’s noteworthy that Rahm Shastry, DriveU CEO was also the first angel investor at TaxiForSure, that was later acquired by Ola.

No official amount disclosure statement has been passed but reliable sources are saying Unitus Seed Fund has put USD 1 Million (approx Rs. 6.8 crores) in DriveU.  The amount raised will be used to expand the business to Tier I and Tier II cities. Currently, DriveU is operating in 3 cities – Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai since July 2015 and aiming to launch in Delhi soon.

“Imagine not needing a car, because you already have your own – but just a reliable, background-verified, on-demand driver, for your weekday commute or simply for attending social events. That’s the gap being addressed by DriveU,” Rahm Shastry said adding one can also opt for part-time driver on demand at an affordable cost.

Interestingly Rahm Shastry has been the first angel investor for Taxi for Sure but now has been walking on entirely different path with DriveU

Fares are really affordable at just Rs. 99/hour

The services are offered using the web and mobile app available for both android and ios users. Just some taps and you are all set to book a driver as per the needs. User Experience is made far way better by using the advanced technology to avoid the sudden price hike during peak hours. A fare of just Rs. 99/hour is charged. E-Wallets like PayU, Paytm  etc are also integrated into the app to pay just a click away.Best practices in technology, driver verification, training methods and on-road commute experience make this company more reliable. Customer safety is of utmost importance. Best measures are taken to get the drivers verified by police and RTO before registering them on the system, thus ensuring the security of the customers.

Hire the drivers on demand to drive your car.

DriveU has 250 drivers and aims to go up to 1 lakh in upcoming 3 years. Up to January 2015, DriveU has served over 15,000 trips for 6,000 customers most of which were women.

More than 15 lakhs private cars are there alone in Bangalore and 30 percent of the car owners are seeking drivers. The potential market for DriveU is large as India is the fifth largest passenger-car market globally. The firm will need car owners to use their vehicles frequently, which is contradictory to the ideology of Ola, Uber, and other cab initiatives.

Although the company has been on a path of success thanks to India’s passion for cars but an ultimate fight will be put on by the cab initiatives. DriveU is using the needs of the owners to use their own car which are a great idea for the long run.
