Cortana, Microsoft’s personal assistant and the competitor of Siri and Google Now, is getting an update after a long time. The upcoming update will be rolling out to Android to iOS users. The major new update will bring a full visual refresh to the personal assistant. It is interesting that Microsoft’s Windows devices are not getting the update. Which means, Cortana on Windows operating system will continue with the old UI. Moreover, there is still no announcement on when Windows devices will get the update. However, I feel that the new design of Cortana looks a lot cleaner and gorgeous than the old one.

So, What is new in this update of Cortana?

As of now, the new Cortana has a purple accent on Android and iOS. But Microsoft has announced that in near future users will be able to change the accent color. Furthermore, the hamburger menu was taken off and replaced with a bottom bar containing localized actions. Along with all the new design, this update also brings Cortana to a new region. Cortana for iOS and Android will be now available in the United Kingdom. Microsoft’s personal assistant is available in the US for some time and it is very nice to see that Microsoft is now bringing it to the United Kingdom.
