Back in those days, we used to buy SIM card normally by visiting the nearest retailer, filled subscriber form and done! The connection was active within few hours. But now those days are gone! Now the Union Government has asked the Telecom companies to link the connection with Aadhar cards.
It seems DIGITAL INDIA scheme has already started! Within few days, people may start receiving the identity verification by telecom companies for their mobile numbers, digitally. The numbers will be blacklisted from the network if the identity of the owner doesn’t match! I’m thinking about those jio users who bought these connection from footpath!
Why is the Government doing this? This is currently not clear, but the government already sent the legal notices to the companies to complete the process in a year’s time.
Maybe in coming future, Aadhar will be the new identity document mandatory for purchasing a new mobile connection. This will be done with the help of eKYC process, same that we have already gone through while getting JIO!
Both prepaid and postpaid users have to go through this process.
Sometimes back, government made Aadhar card mandatory for holding a PAN card.
