Albigna wins Marcel Boussac at ParisLongchamp

Albigna bounced back with an success in the Prix Marcel Boussac.
Jessica Harringtons bill had looked every inch a top-class filly at the manufacturing after winning a maiden and the Group 2 Airlie Stud Stakes at the Curragh the season.
The Niarchos family-owned juvenile defeated when strongly fancied for the Moyglare Stud Stakes three weeks ago, but was found to be in season.
This one-mile contest presented another opportunity to the daughter of Zoffany to catch Group One glory – and when she had been under pressure in the hands of Shane Foley before the home turn, she responded superbly into her riders urgings.
Marieta looked going to claim top honours after pulling clear of the area, but she tired on conditions and 4-1 taken Albigna reeled in her to win with something to spare.
The previously unbeaten favourite Savarin of andre Fabre was well-beaten.
Harrington explained:I wasnt really convinced beforehand as shes just run on good and great to firm ground, so we were going to the unknown. I was really not that convinced going into now, but she showed the actual Albigna we see in your home.
I have only seen it the next and I thought she was not travelling that great, however Shane said later that she enjoys to find her feet, which she failed in her first two races.
At the Moyglare she ran a bit free and has been discovered to be in season afterwards.
The cost of Harrington cuts from 25-1 to 14-1 for the 1000 Guineas of next year.
Harrington said:It is wonderful to win that race and I am thankful to the Niarchos family for sending me these beautifully-bred yearlings – after the year we had last year using Alpha Centauri I didnt believe I would maybe have a year like this with all the two-year-old fillies.
I would imagine so (Guineas filly), she gets the mile well and she is a huge filly and Id imagine shed remain further than a mile.
That really is awin and youre in to your Breeders Cup and that I know it is very near the center of Maria (Niarchos), the Breeders Cup, so we will talk about that after the dust has settled here.
Id say she is probably top of the pecking order (of their stables fillies) as she stayed the shuttle so that she seems more like a traditional filly.
