Rhys Patchell forced off in Wales’ final World Cup warm-up match with head injury


Wales have suffered an injury scare just weeks ahead of the World Cup after Rhys Patchell was compelled off during their Test match against Ireland.
The left the pitch at the Aviva Stadium to get a head-injury assessment through the first half after colliding with CJ Stander.
He was replaced by Dan Biggar and did not go back to the match.
Patchell made his first Test start in, and has suffered an injury-hit campaign, suffering concussion and hamstring difficulties.
The Scarlets player just secured his place following an impressive performance in last week’s defeat in Wales’ 31-man World Cup squad to Ireland in Cardiff.
Warren Gatland is without Gareth Anscombe, that sustained a knee injury during Wales’ World Cup warm-up game against England last month and will miss the championship in Japan.
Wales start their World Cup campaign against Georgia on September 23.
