The largest smartphone manufacturer in China, Xiaomi has come up with yet another device. This time they have announced the Xiaomi Mi 5X smartphone in China. Along with the Mi 5X Xiaomi also unveiled the MIUI 9 software. The MIUI 9 is based on top Android 7.0 Nougat and will come soon for most of the Xiaomi smartphones. Not to mention the Mi 5X is the first Xiaomi device to come with MIUI 9.
Just like every year MIUI 9 caught the eyes of most Xiaomi enthusiasts. However, the Mi 5X was also able to create a decent hype over the Xiaomi fans. It is mostly because the decent specifications it offers for its low price tag. The specifications of the Xiaomi Mi 5X has leaked already before the launch and for most of the folks, it wasn’t a secret anymore.
To start with, the Mi 5X comes with a 5.5-inch full HD display. It weighs 165 grams and has a thickness of 7.3 mm. The device has a full metal unibody design and also offers surprisingly amazing build quality. The Mi 5X gets its processing power from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 and has 4GB of RAM. The Mi 5X also offers Adreno 506 GPU for better gaming and video playback. For storage, Xiaomi has gone with a single 64 GB variant.
Now lets come to the main attraction of the device. The dual rear cameras. There are two 12MP camera sensors at the back of the device which Xiaomi claims is the same camera used on the Mi 6. Now the dual rear camera hump on the back not only looks similar to the iPhone 7 Plus’s one it also has similar functionality as well. Here, one of the sensors is used to capture normal RGB shots while the other is used as a telephoto lens which offers 2X optical zoom. Xiaomi has also included a portrait mode similar to the iPhone 7 Plus’s. The portrait mode blurs the background of the images and gives a DSLR like effect to the photos. Other than this, the Mi 5X has got a 5MP front facing camera.
To power up the whole device, there’s a 3080 mAh battery and hopefully, it should last a full day. Finally, just like other Xiaomi devices, there’s a fingerprint scanner at the back of the device. The Mi 5X costs RMB 1499 in China which is approximately around ₹14,300. The device will be available in Black, Rose Gold and Gold color options.
The Mi 5X looks a lot like the iPhone 7 Plus. From the dual rear camera hump to the antenna band positions. everything is quite similar. However, the good pricing by Xiaomi’s marketing team and decent specifications makes it one of the top candidates at this price point. There are still no words on when the device will be coming to India but in China, the device will be available from 1st August. Let us know your thoughts on the device.
