After long anticipation, Huawei is all set to launch the Honor 8 in India on October 12th. The Honor 8 has already launched in a few countries and it has got great feedbacks. While the pricing of the Honor 8 is still unknown but from the US pricing we can expect, it would be somewhere between Rs 25000 to Rs 28000. In the sub 30K price range Honor 8 will be fighting for its place against One Plus 3, Mi 5 and Le Max 2. In this article, I will be talking about why Honor 8 can be one of the best mid-range devices in India. So without wasting any further time let’s get started.
Dual 12 MP Cameras:
For all those thinking, what is so exciting in Dual Cameras, keep reading I will describe. The main purpose of the dual camera setup is to have two sensors, one being monochrome and the other RGB. So how can this help? When you take a picture with a dual camera phone it takes the same picture with both of its lenses. While the post processing both of the images gets combined into one. This helps in certain aspects, the photos taken features great color contrast, clarity and most importantly the ‘bokeh’ effect. For those who don’t know, the bokeh effect makes the objects stay in focus while blurs the background. This helps you to get DSLR-like images from your phone. The 12 MP Dual Camera of Honor 8 which are made from the footing of Huawei P9 does the same job excellently.
Premium Looks:
In 2016 people don’t just buy a device for its specifications but also they keep in mind how it looks. Honor 8 completely has a key at this point. The dual toned Aurora glass back looks just stunning while the metal rims add more refinements. The edges are also a bit curved and it should add a great feel to the hands. The bezel in the front also looks slim. Moreover, the Midnight Black, Sapphire Blue and Pearl White colors are with all glass back gives a gorgeous look.
Flagship Grade Specs:
Not only looks but the phone works amazing too. Under the hood, the phone has got a Kirin 950 SoC which is just a step below Huawei’s flagship Kirin 955 SoC. There’s also 4 GB of RAM which keeps the phone fluid and makes it future proof. For gamers, it has got Mali T880-MP4 GPU which is used in many of the current flagship devices. To add more, there’s 32 and 64 GB inbuilt storage options which are enough for storing all of your data. And finally, the Dual Camera has been mentioned already. For the price, this device can be called an affordable flagship.
The Perfect Display:
Honor 8 has the same Full HD vivid display of the Huawei P9. The phone uses an IPS Panel and it is worth mentioning that the display is one of the most color accurate displays. It also has a 96% high-color Gamut which gives better color contrast and adds a nice viewing experience. The 1080p display gives a pixel density of 423 PPI which is good enough.
Programmable Fingerprint Scanner:
There’s a lot of phones in the market which has fingerprint scanners. Other than being fast and accurate, Honor 8 also features a fingerprint scanner which can be used to open certain apps. Well, the fingerprint sensor is actually placed on a button which can be pressed. If you press the fingerprint button it will open an app, for example, camera. Moreover, if you double press it, it can open gallery. And finally, pressing and holding the button will open another app of your choice. So you can program all these functions and set it to open particular apps as per your need.
IR Blaster:
Most of the phones these days are leaving this feature behind. However, I personally love the IR Blaster. With the IR Blaster or Infrared Blaster, you can actually control many of your home appliances. You can change your TV channel, volume up your sound box or even control your Air Conditioner. This can come handy if you are always in a fight with your siblings for the remote control.
USB Type C with Fast Charging:
It’s high time and many of the smartphone manufacturers are ditching Micro USB ports. Honor is also one of them and it is great to see they are providing a USB type C port. USB Type-C ports are much faster than the Micro USB and also here any USB Type C jack can be inserted even upside down which was not possible in the case of Micro USB. Additionally, the Honor 8 also supports fast charging. According to them, it can charge up to 50% in just 30 minutes.
Whole Day Battery Backup:
Honor claims that the 3000 mAh battery of the Honor 8 is enough for a whole day usage and for some time more. As per them, the minimalistic EMUI which is close to the stock Android (with some added features) will drain a lot less charge. Moreover, the four energy efficient Cortex A53 cores of the Kirin 950 SoC (Octa-Core) will help to save battery when the device is not in heavy use. Besides as mentioned earlier, fast charging is also supported by the Honor 8 so that you can get up to 50% charge from 30 mins of charging.
Well, that’s not all. There’s also many more reasons like 8 MP Front Facing Camera and NFC for getting an Honor 8. But as a Tech Journalist, above I have written the 8 main reasons why Honor 8 can be the best mid-range device in India (when it launches). While there’s still a lot depending on the pricing of the phone but from past experiences, I think Honor 8 will be affordable for most of the consumers. Truthfully, Honor 8 is better than you think it to be and surely has the features to stand out in the mid-range segment.
