CureJoy – An online health and wellness startup raises $4.4 millionaccel_print_logo (1) in Series A funding round. The round was led by existing investor Accel Partners India along with several other unnamed investors. In September 2015 Accel partners invested $1.15 million in the startup.

Plans are to upgrade the focused healthcare sectors it work upon viz. fitness, beauty and nutrition. Strengthening the team and building a strong tech infrastructure to emphasize on video content. New funds will be helpful to grow the existing verticals and establish business swgments across six-seven sub-verticals viz. yoga, pregnancy, recipe and more. More ideas are to generate advertisement-based revenue around video content.

Based in San Francisco and Bangalore, startup is an online connected community to join the users over a large network with different niches on medicine, It also regularly provides filtered content on natural health and wellness, mostly in the preventive healthcare segment. It primarily targets the US market with natural health content with a focus on preventive healthcare.

Currently there are no charges to users but plans are in action to launch freemium model based personalised preventive healthcare services at the end of 2016 or early 2017. Moreover launching of Spanish language content is also in queue to target native language speaking people.

Ideas are there to offer experts a dedicated channel on the395b4e66041ab4f02df8abb96e93b178_400x400 platform, thus are in talks to partner with Deepak Chopra. It initiated as a Q&A portal availing people to ask questions regarding health issues, later it started to provide curated content from experts.

Currently associated with 5,000+ experts of different streams in natural health science, including yoga, ayureveda, naturopathy and traditional Chinese medicine, including acupuncture and acupressure. The firm has targeted to reach 50,000 by 2017.

Startup claimed to secure about 14 million monthly visits, with growth rate of 100% quarter-on-quarter and expects the website traffic to touch 25 million by the end of 2016. CureJoy competes with portals like Everyday Health Inc, WebMD, an online portal offering medical news and information and lifestyle media brand Mind Body Green.
