Funding story
Growing consumerism, and rising demands of the middle class has led to the creation of a number of innovative apps which aim to enable funseekers to explore various leisure activities in their localities easily. One such excellent app is the Mumbai-based hyperlocal nightlife app Happitoo. Available on Android and backed by FNB City Media Pvt. Ltd, the app has recently succeeded in raising $77,000 from an unnamed Mumbai-based angel investor. Happitoo was founded in September 2013 by Hemant Jain and Ravi Raj Meena. Hemant and Ravi seek to use this latest round of funding to further the app’s scope, bringing a much wider range of activities under its umbrella, and also market the app more vigorously.
Happitoo’s services and reach
Happitoo aims to become the #1 resource for planning and discovering an entire gamut of leisure activities, enabling funseekers to discover exciting activities related to food, dance, drunks, music and many others, being held at clubs, restaurants and lounges. It aims to guide funseekers at every stage of activity planning, by highlighting leisure activities available nearby, using the “Make My Night” tab. Currently, it covers over 8,000 nightspots at 700 locations spread across 15 cities-Mumbai, Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Pune, Bangalore, Kolkata, Hyderabad,Nagpur,Jaipur,Ludhiana, Faridabad, Chandigarh, Indore and Chennai.
Happitoo also highlights special offers associated with the various leisure activities, and maintains a collection of Happy Hours, Theme Nights and Buffets. Looking ahead
Happitoo and its competitors-among whom are the likes of InstaBounce, Partiko and DuPlay-are certain to completely revolutionise the leisure industry. Given the rapid rise of the Indian economy, one can expect very bright prospects for apps like Happito in the near future.
