Kolkata-based elderly care startup Support Elders has a well-developed care providing network which ensures that the old never have to feel unwanted or alone. Recently, the startup made a significant breakthrough by tying up with HIDCO(West Bengal Housing Infra Development Corporation). The tie-up is part of the latter’s smart city initiative. Support Elders seeks to tap the initiative to provide housing support to the aged residents of the New Town area, a rapidly rising township located in Kolkata’s fringes.
About Support Elders
Apratim Chattopdhyay, Co-Founder, MD and CEO of Support Elders, said that the concept of such a startup was created when it became evident that the elderly were lacking sufficient support from their children and younger relatives, due to the latter’s professional commitments. With the risk of a medical emergency confronting these people being ever-present, this concept is certain to be extremely beneficial to the elderly. The startup itself was founded by Apratim, Deepanwita and Debina Chattopadhyay. It claims to be a “social entrepreneurship initiative” which focuses on providing holistic and integrated long-term care for the elderly.
One of their most significant innovations is the Medical Emergency Alert Services(MEAS) : a smart, lightweight wristband which allows the elderly to notify Support Elders’s National Alarm Centre(NAC), which consists of emergency care personnel. Another is the excellent Care Management Services(CMS), which allows for the remote medical monitoring of those with ailments such as Alzheimer’s. Support Elders’s Member Care Associates(MCA) team ensures that those with such conditions are taken care of, and MCAs help the elderly with their chores.
