It has been quite some time since Microsoft released the Windows 10 Anniversary update. Anniversary Update for Windows PC’s added new features like performance improvements, new start layout, extensions for edge and more. Just a few days ago it came in the news that more than 75% Windows 10 PCs now run the Windows 10 Anniversary update. Well, that is really good but what about the 25% who are still to get the update. This article is for all such peoples who need help regarding this matter. If you are also one of them don’t worry!
Personally, I too faced this as I got a new HP Spectre X360. The Ultrabook comes with Windows 10 Pro but that’s the 1511 version. The first thing that came to my mind after setting up the Ultrabook was to update it to the Anniversary Update. I went to straight into Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and tried to check for updates. But to my surprise, it began to download some patches and driver updates but not the Anniversary Update. I gave a few more tries and finally did the force update. Below is how to do it.
Force Update Windows 10 to Anniversary Update:
1. Click here and download the Windows 10 Update Assistant.
2. Once the download finishes double click the file to start the setup and follow the on-screen instructions.
3. Now the Assistant will check for the latest version and will show you an Update option. Click it to continue.
4. After that, it will check your device compatibility. If your PC passes the compatibility test you can click the Next button.
5. In the next step Windows 10 Anniversary Update will be downloaded now into your PC. It may take long depending on your Internet Speeds. Wait for it to finish.
6. After it is done, it will automatically install the update.
7. Finally, it will show you ‘Your Update is ready’ and you will need to restart the PC. The installation process will continue post restart. Soon it will restart again and now you just need to login to your Microsoft account to enjoy the latest new features of the Anniversary Update.
