With the mobile gaming segment expanding at a rapid rate, several excellent opportunities have arisen for mobile gaming tech startups. One such startup, Mech Mocha, recently raised an undisclosed amount of seed funding from Blume Ventures and Flipkart. Created by Arpita Kapoor, Mohit Rangaraju and Shilp Gupta, Mech Mocha seeks to use the raised funding for overall expansion, aggressive marketing and technology upgradation.
About Mech Mocha and its products
Mech Mocha intends to make a significant difference to the greater mobile entertainment segment. Its first product, “Puppet Punch”, clocked as many as 100,000 downloads within 4 days of its launch. Currently, the startup seeks to develop culturalised content. The potential for entertainment apps related to the various culturalised cartoons such as Chhota Bheem is immense, and Mech Mocha seeks to make the most out of this. Arpita and Mohit belong to the International Game Developers Association and their expertise allows them to churn out quality content which has left other Indian studios far behind.
Their latest offering is “Chhota Bheem Himalayan Adventure” which lets kids guide their cartoon superstar-Choota Bheem-on an adventure in the Himalayas, enabling him to overcome challenges by skiing past them. Hours of entertainment is guaranteed for restless kids, and this will come as a great relief for beleaguered parents. This offering is expected to be even more successful than Puppet Punch.
About the segment as a whole
Mech Mocha claims to be witnessing transactions worth $1,000 on its platform on a daily basis. The global gaming industry is pegged at $70.4 Bn, a huge pie which is growing each day. Blume and Flipkart’s funding of MadRat Games in November 2014, and Moonfrog’s raising of $15 million from Sequoia Capital and Tiger Global are the other major significant occurrences in this segment in the recent past. Mech Mocha’s emphasis on creating innovative and exciting entertainment products through the use of cutting-edge tech is likely to keep it ahead of the rest of the competition.
