All these days new markets are being explored by investors. It’s no more encircled around e-tailers. Several projects are being funded that will help in enhancing the human experience. Augmented Reality and Virtual reality are the hottest trends in researcher’s favorites list, and they are being supported by several investors who are interested in uplifting the human exposure about the things surrounding us.
Today we are going to talk about Blippar Inc. which is specialized in augmented reality, artificial intelligence
and computer vision. It acquired augmented reality platform Layar in 2014 and Binocular in 2015. Blippar Inc. raised USD 45Mn last year; and today it raised USD 54Mn in Series D round of funding led by Khazanah Nasional Berhad, an investment fund of the government of Malaysia along with the existing investors. It’s noteworthy that Blipper inc has raised USD 153Mn till now in it’s four rounds of fundings.
The company was founded in 2011 and currently has 300 employees in 14 global offices, including 60 engineers in its San Francisco and Mountain view offices. The company is partnered with top brands including Nestle, Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, Universal pictures, Procter & Gamble, Disney, Jaguar etc and has been serving 65 million users worldwide.
“This latest funding round will allow us to continue to capture top engineering talent, further grow our leading global install base, (and) create one-of-a-kind campaigns for our brand partners…,” said Ambarish Mitra, chief executive of Blippar.
Blippar will use the funds to buckle up its engineering team, to execute expansion plans to new regions and add new categories and content. The company is working in the segment that needs much research funds but has been paying the money invested. This has attracted lots of investors and thus enhancing the human experience in all possible ways no matter if its augmented reality, computer vision or artificial intelligence.
